Session: Yarn Explorations

Description: Yarn is the most critical element of many fiber arts. In order to understand how to put yarns together to make a textile, we need to understand the characteristics of the yarns themselves. Some of the topics in this highly engaging hands-on class include: tools for yarn exploration, structure, fiber content ID, weight/grist, twist, strength, elasticity. Participants will go home with worksheets full of yarn examples for future reference. This class is appropriate for weavers, spinners, knitters and others who want to understand more about the yarn they are making and using.
