Session: Woven Jam Jar

Description: Students will start with a jam jar that has been adhered to a slotted wooded base. After gluing in cane spokes, they will weave the sides using a combination of Hamburg cane & electrical wire. They will weave using basic continuous weaving with a single weaver and chase weaving with three weavers. The baskets will be finished with glued flat reed rims, seagrass and a wooden jar lid.

Supplies that students will bring:

  • Spray water bottle
  • basket scissors
  • Gorilla Glue Super Glue Gel
  • old towel
  • several clamp clips
  • two rubber bands that fit around a jam jar/mason jar
  • small packing tool or mini screwdriver
