Description: Double-faced tablet weaving allows for figures and letters to be woven into bands. But there are several different double-faced techniques. Each technique has its own advantages and disadvantages, so how do you know which one will work best? We’ll look at traditional double-faced card weaving on day one, day two we’ll try 3/1 Twill double-faced, and on the last day we’ll look at Sulawesi tablet weaving which is a three color double-faced technique.

Supplies that students will bring: Inkle style loom (No Asford Inklette, it is too small for card weaving), 20 4-hole cards, belt shuttle, scissors, five balls or cones of mercerized or unmercerized cotton any size between 5/2 and 10/2 or #10 crochet thread. Each ball should be at least 1 ounce. Two balls of one color, and two balls of one different highly contrasting color, and one more ball of a third color. There will not be time in class to wind off, so please come prepared with five yarn sources.
