Description: Interested in learning how to weave tapestry? Need help improving your existing skills? Join me for three days of exploring the techniques of tapestry weaving. Students will learn how to: work with bobbins; control the surface and selvedges of the fabric; make joins along a vertical line; build shapes accurately, blend colors on the bobbin (chine). Slide talks will cover the techniques and history of tapestry weaving. Discussions during class will cover: warp/weft balance; handling mixed weft yarns; and finishing and mounting tapestries. Weft materials will be supplied, as well as printed handouts. This workshop is appropriate for all levels. Each participant’s learning will be geared to his or her own experience level.

Supplies that students will bring:
- A warped loom. Your loom should have a tensioning device and should be tall enough that you can still get a decent shed when you have woven about 6†high on the loom. Warping instructions will be sent to participants.
- Tapestries that you have woven. If you have not woven a tapestry yet, no problem.
- Paper, tracing paper, pencils, erasers, ruler, waterproof black laundry markers (not fine tipped), a piece of cardboard that is about 9″x 12″
- Scissors
- Small magnets to hold the cartoon onto the warp while inking the cartoon
- Beater: only if you already have one
