Session: Bounce, Roll, Felt a Bowl

Description: Bounce your project into existence in this high-energy, tactile workshop! In this session, we move beyond traditional flat felt to explore the world of seamless 3D wet felting. Using an inflatable ball as our “resist,” we will transform soft wool roving into a beautiful, structural decorative bowl.

This is a fun, physical experience where movement is the key ingredient. You will learn how to layer fibers, use a kinetic rolling technique to interlock the wool, and master the “fulling” process through bouncing to create a sturdy, one-of-a-kind piece of fiber art.

What You Will Learn:

  • 3D Resist Basics: Understanding how to build wool over a three-dimensional form.
  • The Layering Technique: Proper fiber placement to ensure a strong, even structure.
  • Kinetic Fulling: Using rolling and bouncing movements to shrink and harden the felt.
  • Shaping & Finishing: How to remove your resist and sculpt your damp bowl into its final, artistic form.

All materials are provided. You will leave the class with a finished bowl and the confidence to create your own 3D felted structures at home.
