Kris has been weaving since the early 1970s. She is primarily a tablet weaver obsessed with Iron Age and Early Medieval techniques and how those weavers understood their craft. In addition to teaching she has co-authored (with Linda Malan) The Willful Pursuit of Complexity, exploring the Icelandic Vacant-Hole technique, written both articles and papers on tablet weaving, Iron Age looms, and archaeological textiles. On occasion, she has been known to dabble in cloth weaving, tapestry, spinning, dyeing, and book binding.
