2027 Association of Northwest Weavers Guilds’ (ANWG) Conference

The Association of Northwest Weavers’ Guilds (ANWG) Education Committee invites you to submit an application to teach at the 2027 ANWG Conference, June 14 – 19, 2027 at the Holiday Inn – Columbia Riverfront, Portland, hosted by the Portland Handweavers Guild (PHG). The conference theme is TBD. More information about the conference can be found at https://anwgconference.org/.

Goals:

  • To provide a wide range of weaving and fiber arts educational experiences.
  • To feature traditional techniques, as well as new concepts and tools.
  • To challenge and inspire both experienced and novice fiber artists.

Workshops: 

Conference Workshops will be primarily held Monday, June 14th through Thursday, June 17th. Additional Intro level workshops may be scheduled on Friday and Saturday, June 18th and 19th. Workshops may be 1, 2 or 3 days long, and we may ask you to teach multiple workshops, for example both a 3-day and 1-day workshop, or two 2-day workshops. We encourage instructors to submit multiple proposals.

Seminars: 

3-hour seminars will be held during all 6 days of the conference, but will primarily be scheduled for Friday and Saturday. We are seeking both lecture and hands-on seminar formats, and invite instructors to submit multiple proposals.

Application and Proposals:

Please complete the Instructor Application along with the Seminar/Workshop Proposal form (1 for each proposal). Questions or concerns should be addressed to the Conference Education Chairs, Niki Schulz and Lynne Fitzsimmons, at education@anwgconference.org.

Deadline: The deadline for submissions has been extended to January 31st, 2026. Applicants will be notified of selection no later than March 1, 2026.

Instructor Compensation

  • A fee of $700 (US) per workshop day (6-hour teaching period).
  • A fee of $350 (US) per half-day seminar (3-hour teaching period).
  • Entrance to all conference events, exhibits and the vendor hall.
  • When not teaching, Instructors may take seminars, at no cost, pending availability.

Travel Expenses Overview

  • Air, train or bus travel expenses to/from Portland will be reimbursed by the conference based on economy fares. Receipts must be submitted for all travel expenses including fares, baggage fees and ground transportation.
  • For those driving to the conference, mileage will be reimbursed at the 2027 IRS standard rate for business use. Travel expenses for 25 miles round trip or less are not reimbursable.
  • Total travel expenses in excess of $600 will not be reimbursed without prior approval by the ANWG conference committee.

Meals and Lodging Overview

  • Accommodation at the conference hotel will be provided.
  • Accommodation is based on double occupancy and is provided for the number of days teaching plus one.
  • A Per Diem for meals and other expenses of $75 per teaching day will be provided.
