Session: Weave a V-Shawl and Learn Double Weave

Description: Create a fabulous one of a kind shawl that stays on the shoulders! The v-shaped shawl is a favorite style due to it’s unique shape;  it stays put on the shoulders while covering all of the back. Use double weave and a unique method of weaving a fold to weave the shawl.

Participants will learn about the design and weaving process for the shawl. They  will see many finished pieces and will explore use of color and stripe patterns in designing warp, considering weft choices as well.

In this venue, participants will order a pre-wound warp from the instructor, and will begin the hands-on part of the class with dressing the loom. Time will be spent off-line to complete threading. On-line sessions will cover aspects of the weaving that are specific to this project, starting at the beginning.  Some weaving time will be off-line, but students will  be guided on-line through important parts, including weaving the v part of the shawl, removing it from the loom, and finishing.

The class is appropriate for newer weavers as long as they have warped and woven at least one project. Weavers who are more experienced, but want to learn about double weave and/or back-to-front warping will also appreciate this class.
