Tammy Bast is the weaver, teacher, and designer behind The Rogue Weaver. Based in Nova Scotia, Canada, she specializes in rigid heddle weaving and is known for her practical, encouraging approach to teaching.
Through online and in-person classes, Tammy helps weavers build confidence, develop technical skills, and discover solutions that work for their individual weaving style. Rather than focusing on a single “right” way to weave, she encourages students to understand the principles behind the techniques so they can make informed creative choices of their own.
Tammy teaches students from around the world through Zoom workshops, private lessons, guild presentations, and educational programs. She is the author of numerous weaving patterns and regularly shares weaving education through articles, videos, newsletters, and social media.
A regular contributor to Little Looms magazine since its inception, Tammy has published articles, instructional content, and original rigid heddle weaving patterns throughout the magazine’s history. She has also designed projects for Gist Yarn & Fibre and WEBS.
Her work focuses on making weaving approachable and accessible while encouraging curiosity, experimentation, and creative problem-solving. Whether teaching a beginner how to warp a loom for the first time or helping an experienced weaver tackle a new technique, her goal remains the same: to make weavers’ lives easier.
