Description: Master the fundamentals of tablet weaving in this three day workshop. Using several techniques that all have a single pattern thread in each card, we will explore the mechanics of tablet weaving through a series of exercises that follow a logical progression from simple to increasingly complex. Students will learn to weave and design patterns in 4×4 and then Coptic Diamonds, finally culminating with Sulawesi, a technique that allows for beautiful and sophisticated designs. This class aims to provide a solid understanding of tablet weaving that will help students to approach other tablet weaving techniques with confidence. This class is designed both for those with no prior experience, as well as for those who have done some tablet weaving but want a deeper understanding. Looms will be provided for use during class, as well as all yarn and cards.
