Description: A clasped weft is made by having two threads enter an open
shed, from opposite sides of the loom, and interlock somewhere in the middle of that shed.
It’s totally up to the weaver’s discretion where the clasp is placed. The clasped join can be
shifted from side to side giving the look of an EKG read out, or can be carefully stacked on top. of each other resulting in a geometric appearance. You might already be familiar with the cityscape designs or a piano key pattern usually associated with clasped weft. What if we push our designs up a little? Students will learn the basic fundamentals of clasped weft while
weaving a useful sampler that can be used later as a towel.
