Description: Before you can weave on your Rigid Heddle Loom, you must create a warp. Often considered one of the more challenging parts of the Rigid Heddle weaving craft, warping can be fun — or at least a little easier — if you know the basics and a few short cuts. In this session you will learn how to judge yarn for warp, how to calculate a warp, and how to put a warp onto the Rigid Heddle loom using efficient and time-tested techniques, many developed by the instructor. This class is loaded with hints, shortcuts, and tips to help make the warping process on your rigid heddle loom seem like magic. You will leave class with a warp for a scarf and weft yarn to weave it on your own.
The goals of this course are to:
- Learn general weaving terminology as it applies to warping the Rigid Heddle loom
- Learn many innovative warping techniques to make the process easier and quicker on the Rigid Heddle loom
- Learn how to judge and select yarn for use as warp
- How to plan a project
- Calculate and create a warp for a scarf

Supplies that students will bring:
- Student must bring a fully assembled but NOT warped Rigid Heddle loom with all the parts and extra equipment they have.
- Stands are encouraged but not required.
- A 7.5 dent (Ashford) or 8 dent (all other rigid heddle looms) reed is preferred for this class
- Scissors
- Tape measure
- Pen/Pencil
