ANWG Education and Support

To support weavers in the region, Northwest guilds banded together to create ANWG, the Association of Northwest Weavers Guilds. Through challenge grants, study groups, the new Movie Bites program, and a biennial conference, ANWG uses the cooperative resources of the many to raise up its members.

The approaching ANWG 2025 Conference brings together established and emerging teachers to offer six days of in-person workshops and seminars in weaving, spinning, felting, basketry and the history of textiles and fiber traditions.  No single guild can offer such a wide range of affordable programming

During the conference ANWG Study Groups and Complex Weavers will host in-person meetings so members can reconnect and plan. Guild booths will be brimming with handwoven items. The towel exchange is a fun tradition: bring a towel to share and take home a towel woven by another attendee. All exhibited items will include the maker’s name and details about fiber, structure, sett and draft source, all the questions we ask when we wonder how something was created. Bring your camera so you can document and remember the amazing work you see on display! You may even meet the weaver at conference and expand your community beyond your local guild.

If you need a portable loom for a weaving workshop, the guilds together have resources. Ask your local guild, which may have exactly what you need. To cast your request into a wider pool, send an email to registrar@anwgconference.org. Let them know what equipment you need to participate; volunteers are collecting equipment for the conference.

We look forward to meeting you in Yakima!
