The design depth of Powell Shadow Weave is something barely plumbed by weavers. This Seminar will begin with a review of the history of Shadow Weave and its basic structure parameters. This conversation will evolve quickly into a complexity rarely seen in most publications. The focus is Shadow Weave within the Powell Method, which uses block theory, profile drafts, and units.
The visual artworks possible in Shadow Weave are astounding. Rebecca will create a profile draft specific to the Seminar from suggestions generated from participants. The full draft from the profile will then be created. Then she will demonstrate how she adds color to this Shadow Weave draft to create a true work of art.
The goal in this Seminar is twofold — inspiring participants to pursue Powell Shadow Weave in their own weaving practice and motivating them to create their own unique Shadow Weave drafts using the Powell Method.
