List of Prizes for the Conference Shows

The Fashion, Juried, and Open Shows filled with ANWG members’ work are major attractions for the conference. Not only are shows joyful activities, but entries are also eligible for prizes. If you stay with me, this message will turn into a big list because there are so many prizes.

All members of ANWG Affiliate guilds are encouraged to enter the shows. Members who are not attending can still represent their guilds and support ANWG’s regional activities by submitting an entry. And they can win prizes.

  • Best Overall Garment Design
  • Most innovative garment (unusual materials, structure, color and/or design)
  • Best interpretation of conference theme, “Weaving Webs”

  • The Virginia Harvey Award for Best Use of Color sponsored by the Seattle Weaver’s Guild: $150
  • Judge’s Choice
  • Committee’s choice

Open Show Awards

Three People’s Choice awards will be announced at the conference.

Juried Show Awards

Madelyn Van der Hoogt, Juror

  • Juror’s Choice Award: 1st ($100), 2nd ($100), Honorable Mention
  • Best interpretation of Weaving Webs theme: 1st, 2nd, Honorable Mention
  • Most innovative or inspirational from an historical weaving source, 20th century or earlier
  • Best use of conference colors: 1st, 2nd, Honorable Mention
  • The Bette Nordberg award for best craftsmanship in a garment: $100
  • The Virginia Harvey Award for Best Design sponsored by the Seattle Weaver’s Guild: $150
  • Complex Weaver’s award: $150
  • The Nell Steedsman Award: one year membership to the Guild of Canadian Weavers
  • Best craftsmanship in a scarf, shawl or woven fabric.
  • Best craftsmanship in a small accessory (hat, jewelry or bag)
  • Best craftsmanship in a tapestry or wall hanging
  • Best craftsmanship in an home furnishing
  • “Tow the Line” Special award for 70% tow or line linen entry
  • Best example for use of wool, alpaca or silk from a handspun skein
  • Most creative use for an atypical or recycled material
  • Best design in a band or braid from an inkle, kumihimo, band or card loom
  • Best craftsmanship and design in 4 and under (4-harness, rigid heddle): 1st ($100), 2nd
  • Best craftsmanship and design for over 4: 1st, 2nd
  • Most innovative example of surface design: 1st, 2nd
  • Best collaborative effort
  • People’s Choice
