Weaving the Goldfinch Cardigan is a seminar that takes us through the adventure in designing and weaving a custom cardigan. Students learn how to plan and design a waterfall cardigan of their own, from how to choose the right yarns, to designing, swatching, warping, and ultimately weaving, seaming, and finishing their piece, all on a rigid heddle loom.
The key component to this class is palindrome yarn – how we identify and use palindrome skeins in our weaving, letting it do the color work for us! We will learn how to work from existing palindrome skeins as well as how to design a project and work backwards towards dyeing our own yarn, how to create a completely unique project.
