Come learn how to create a seamless, nuno felted vest that fits 3 different body shapes and sizes.
I will show you how to design the pattern, how to enlarge it, various layouts of the wool that supports the fitted shape of the garment, and my special “marbled surface design”. There will be a special focus on the final shaping of the garment.
Instructor: Flóra Carlile-Kovács
Duration: 3 day
When: Monday – Wednesday
Level: All
Categories: Felting
Supplies that students will bring:
- Notebook, pens, pencils to make notes and sketches.
- Colored pens or pastel/oils can be helpful for planning the garment and making design choices.
- Tape measure
- Super sharp scissors – It is challenging and it requires patience to cut silk free hand. Good scissors are the key to success. I like using tailor scissors, but smaller scissors will also work.
- Permanent marker
- Small box of pins
- 15×24 inch (40×60 cm) non-slip rug pad gripper, alternatively bubble wrap
- 15×24 inch (40×60 cm) cotton sheet
- 55×75 inch (140×190 cm) non-slip rug pad gripper with small holes to roll the felt in. Alternatively, bubble wrap will also work (small/medium bubbles)
- 55×55 inch (140×140 cm) cotton sheet (synthetic fabric won’t work, but used old cotton/flannel sheets will do.)
- 1 pool noodle (full length). Alternatively, a bath towel
- Sprinkler if you have one
- Container for water (like a large yogurt container, approximately 1 quart or 1 liter)
- 1 mason jar with a lid
- Olive oil soap (or coconut oils soap or Lanolin soap) bar in container
- 1 kitchen wipe or sponge to control the water
- 2-3 hand towels
- Optional:
- Self-healing cutting board (1 m long) and a roller cutter
- Apron
- 1 yard ruler
- 1 texture roller with handle
