{"id":24911,"date":"2025-05-17T15:44:41","date_gmt":"2025-05-17T22:44:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/?page_id=24911"},"modified":"2025-06-20T12:05:04","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T19:05:04","slug":"fs-23-red-white-and-black-twill-zippered-jacket","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2025\/fs-23-red-white-and-black-twill-zippered-jacket\/","title":{"rendered":"Red, White and Black Twill Zippered Jacket"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Charlotte M Friberg, Desert Fiber Arts, Kennewick, WA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Name\/Description:<\/strong> Red, white and black twill zippered front jacket with on-seam pockets and an attached hood.<br><strong>Made For?:<\/strong> Unisex<br><strong>Size: <\/strong>L<br><strong>Fabric Construction: Woven<br>Fabric Construction &#8211; Other:<\/strong> <br><strong>Woven Structure:<\/strong> The fabric was woven on a 1953 Bergman, 6 harness, 45 inch, countermarch loom.The pattern is a twill weave from Osma Gallinger Tod&#8217;s book &#8220;The Joy of Hand Weaving&#8221; taken from the chapter on Herring bone variations, variation #9: Large Zig-Zag Pattern.<br><strong>Yarn Details and SETT:<\/strong> The yarn is 100% mercerized 5\/2 cotton from Lunatic Fringe Yarns.The sett was 24 epi<br><strong>Handspun Details:<br>Stitches:<br>Special Treatments:<\/strong><br><strong>Textile Finishing: <\/strong>The fabric was wet finished.<br><strong>Textile Challenges:<\/strong><br><strong>Garment Construction: <\/strong>The garment is flat-felt seamed throughout to fully enclose the raw edges of the fabric <br><strong>Lining:<\/strong> To cut down on the bulk of the zipper and pocket edges, 100% cotton twill tape was used to enclose these seams.<br><strong>Special Features: <\/strong>The jacket has a full length zipper in the front.<br><strong>Pattern: <\/strong>Although I did not use a published pattern, I would like to credit Weathertop Weavers, Silverton, Colorado for the inspiration in creating the pattern for this jacket. <br><strong>Garment Challenges:<\/strong> When I warped the loom, I had a different idea for using the fabric. Then I began to see the fabric as a jacket and you are seeing the final form.
