Woven on a Louet Spring I loom

Description: I saw a photo of this draft in progress on a Facebook weaving group & was fascinated by the variation of color & value caused by the varying length of floats. I had been weaving for less than a year at the time and didn’t know that working with 20/2 silk could be challenging, so just went for it. I used number beads strung along the top of the beater bar of my loom to keep track of the 84 step treadle sequence. And trained my husband to wait after opening my studio door for me to make eye contact before he started speaking.

Jan Smiley, Whidbey/Seattle/Whatcom/Skagit, Anacortes, WA Material & Technique: Networked Crackle Draft from Handweaving.net.
