Rhode in Handwoven magazine from May/June 2000. As my own project developed, it kept evolving. This rug ended up being the third in a series. Evolution not just in the development of the design, but I thought it fitting to describe the advance of colors and their interaction as I wove. For the color scheme, I overdyed batches of yarn to create two separate color ways – the brown/orange colorway came from a batch of bright orange, and the Gold/Green color way from a pale mint green. I believe it was the yarn telling me what it wanted to be. Using the same weave structure and sett from the original article, I wove the pattern on a Norwood Cranbrook Loom using 4 shafts.

Jason Munkres, San Juan County Textile Guild, Friday Harbor, WA Winner: Margaret Mead Award for Best Craftsmanship & Design 4 Shafts or Less – 1st Place, sponsored by Threadbenders GuildBest Home Furnishing Material & Technique: Weave structure: Taquete (4 end block weave) Inspired by the work of Michael F.
