On a rigid heddle loom the weft is usually still visible which adds another design element to play with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">In this one day class, we will look at these design elements and how they impact your cloth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Warp design and scale (size of stripes\/blocks)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Yarn sizes and color choices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Warp and weft calculations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Options for direct warping with multiple colors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Class project: A sample warp that can be made into trivets or potholders. A couple of drafts will be provided for inspiration. This is a great way to sample for placemats or table runners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Skill level: beginning to intermediate (Students should have some experience weaving on a rigid heddle loom and be familiar with direct warping)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Instructor:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2025\/lois-gaylord\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"23583\">Lois Gaylord<\/a><br><strong>Duration:<\/strong>\u00a01 day<br><strong>When:<\/strong>\u00a0Wednesday<br><strong>Level:\u00a0<\/strong>Intermediate<br><strong>Categories:<\/strong>\u00a0Rigid Heddle<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Supplies that students will bring:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">\u00a0Rigid Heddle loom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a012 dent Reed preferred, 10 dent okay &#8211; weft shows more<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a02 colors in contrasting value, of 8\/4 cotton (Brassard or Maysville Carpet warp)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a0Optional: accent color of 8\/4 cotton<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a02 or 3 colors that match or coordinate with your warp colors of worsted weight cotton (~800 yds\/lb.) such as Cascade Nifty Cotton or Lily Sugar\u2019n Cream<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a0Note: yarn in skeins should be already wound into balls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a0Scissors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a0A \u201cyarn containment unit\u201d such as a small basket, paper bag or a \u2018Lazy Kate\u2019 to hold spools \/ yarn while warping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a02+ stick shuttles (this is a 2 shuttle weave)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a0Full warping setup (clamps, warping pegs, cardboard sticks\/paper, warp hook)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a0Measuring tape<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a0Colored pencils<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Materials Fee:<\/strong>&nbsp;$0<br><strong>Materials Included:&nbsp;<\/strong>Instructor will provide handouts, graph paper and worksheets<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Repp (Rep) Weave is a warp faced or warp predominate, ribbed weave cloth.
