First, I had to repair the loom. Then I had to find an instruction book, find weaving fibers, find tools, and recite self-affirmations. (Whoops, that was before that was a thing\u2026) Finally, I started to follow the steps given, and, well, no one told me to start small, so I wove curtains and an overshot coverlet that summer. There has to be an easier way to begin!<br><br>In my own work, I\u2019m drawn to the extremes \u2013 large sturdy wool rugs and very fine delicate silk items; plain weave variations and complicated compound weaves. Color is intriguing, structure is fascinating, and technical expertise is essential. I like a challenge, I enjoy exploring the novel, but I also like to re-explore the basic foundations.
