Breaks & Recesses Towel

Wilma Boyd, Seattle Weavers’ Guild, Seattle, WA

Materials & Technique: Strickler pattern #47, woven with cotton (probably ring spun) warp and identical weft. Sett: 24 epi; PPI: approx 26 ppi. Machine hemmed.

Description: I am drawn to the regular geometry of balanced weaves. I wove this towel from “mystery yarn” from the free table at SWG meetings. Its simplicity and lovely hand made it my favorite towel I have woven to date. So far, I have used it for display only. Ihave used this same weave structure for a blanket, pillow cover, and another towel where warp and weft are not identical. This 2nd towel is appealing, but looks very different from identical warp/weft cloth.
