Materials & Technique: It is an original 8 shaft twill design. The warp is hand dyed tencel along with commercially dyed yarn and the weft is commercially dyed tencel. It was woven on an 8 shaft Schacht baby wolf loom.
Description: I had some yarn leftover from a hand painted warp that wasn’t enough for a scarf, but too much to discard. I was challenged to create a design to stretch the remaining yarn into a scarf. To fill out the warp I added black yarn using it to isolate sections of the threading into stripes. I used the same black yarn in the weft, making the pattern in the black stripes disappear which emphasizes the color and pattern of the hand painted stripes.
