Materials & Technique: Doubleweave. Inspired by the book titled Doubleweave by Ursina Arn-Grischott. I played around with two warps using colors and stripes and came up with this combination. The warp is 16/2 cotton sett at 20 epi both layers. Weft is 30/2 bombyx silk. Loom used: Louet Delta parallel countermarche. Woven on 4 harnesses.
Description: I absolutely love the colorful graphic design possibilities you can generate using the doubleweave structure. Yet I don’t always want a bulky piece. So I created this design and chose lightweight yarns and decided on a very open sett. A ridiculously open sett for me. This was extremely difficult to weave as I’ve discovered I don’t have very good “weft placement” control. I am, apparently more of a whomper-stomper weaver. This was a good exercise for me. I am quite happy with the airiness of the scarf. It is colorful and lightweight! I will do this again as I need more practice with my weft placement skills…..
