Description:The rich history of Ancient Egypt will never fail to awe and inspire me. From the people’s unique social structure and complex religious beliefs to their grandiose architecture dedicated to the afterlife, theirs is a history that never fails to impress. Tomb paintings-which date back 3000 years and can still be viewed today-are just as beautiful as the day were painted. My woven scarf is a humble offering to the artisans of Ancient Egypt. The scarf was woven following Theo Moorman’s instructions in her book “Weaving as an Art Form”, which I found perfect for the design. The design was inlaid by following my hand drawn “cartoon”. Theo Moorman describes the woven ground cloth as having “a rather irregular effect, sometimes suggesting a threading fault” which happily lends itself to looking like papyrus.
