Woven Structure:
I wanted the style of an soft echo draft, but with a painted warp separate from the parallel repeat for uninterrupted color pooling. Threaded in an advancing 4 end straight. Treadling is drafted based on an original profile, with the goal of a continuing curve avoiding a repetitive nature. For a weavable version I network drafted on a 4 end straight, made a 2 end extended parallel. Fabric was woven on a Louet 32 shaft Megado Compu-Dobby.
Yarn Details and SETT: Warp: 60/2 silk self dyed from Webs Weft woven alternating both yarns: 60/2 silk in black from Webs 30/2 cotton self dyed from BockensSett at 55 EPI”

Special Treatments: Pre-soaked my silk warp chains in Kieralon Detergent overnight. Applied dyes in a painted warp style, including citric acid in the dye solutions to lower the pH scale. Left my warp in the hot southern sun for a day until everything including the black had exhausted then rinsed. Jacquard:625625638631, Dharma:452429414466472435438434461. For the cotton orange weft I used Jacquard fiber reactive dyes in maroon and black. Fully prepped, and after over 48 hours of being in the dye vat, my colors weren’t exhausting to the richness I had originally intended, but I equally liked the brightness of the orange and ran with it!
