Textile Finishing: Gentle cycle on cold with a gentle low foam detergent, hang to dry, firm press.

Garment Construction: I chose to keep construction techniques to a minimum to keep the shorts lightweight for summer. All the seam allowances are finished with a serger and waistband covers fly components, but the seam on the waistband facing is only serged rather than folded under to avoid excess bulk around waist and stitched in the ditch rather than topstitch to leave the busy woven pattern uninterrupted. “
Lining: Lining is a piece of 8/2 cotton plain weave from the same yarn as self fabric that was in my stash, used in the fly welt and fly guard. Midweight fusible interfacing used in the fly welt and waistband.
Special Features: Zipper fly is a welt style first with a welt sewn down the center front seam, then metal zipper basted in, a fly guard attach, and the whole thing topstitched and bar tacked at the corners.

Garment Challenges: Initially the pattern was intended to have a cuff at the hem, to avoid bulk I had planned on halving the cuff pieces so that they weren’t folded over and I would only be stitching a single piece of fabric over the top of each pant leg.
