Material & Technique: huck, linen
Description: I was inspired by Suzie Liles’ article “Elegant Placemats” in Handwoven, November/December 1999 (three patterns for cotton placements). I adjusted the pattern and sett to match my choice of fiber as well as the specific window I was making the curtains for. Initially, the fabric was rather stiff, but having washed it a couple times, it’s becoming softer and drapes more gracefully. As this has been one of my first projects working with linen and the second time weaving window curtains, there are many things I want to try differently and know I need to learn. Still the experience makes me excited about weaving more linen window curtains in the near future.
