{"id":7034,"date":"2023-03-23T09:36:13","date_gmt":"2023-03-23T17:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anwgconference2023.com\/?p=7034"},"modified":"2023-04-21T18:00:30","modified_gmt":"2023-04-22T02:00:30","slug":"just-3-months-until-the-anwg-conference-in-bend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/just-3-months-until-the-anwg-conference-in-bend\/","title":{"rendered":"Just 3 months until the ANWG Conference in Bend!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We hope everyone is as excited as we are about the upcoming conference this June in Bend, Oregon.\u00a0 Get ready for the next phase of registration beginning at <strong>7 AM PDT, Monday, March 27<\/strong>.\u00a0 You will be able to purchase individual seminars of your choice and individual evening event tickets for the Thursday night Opening Reception and Shopping Extravaganza in the Marketplace; Friday Banquet and Keynote Address by Jeanne Carver, Imperial Stock Ranch &#8211; Shaniko Wool Company; and the Saturday Reception and Fashion Show.\u00a0 Also available are all remaining seats in the workshops that are offered Monday-Thursday.\u00a0 Don\u2019t miss this opportunity to learn from the talented instructors at this conference.<\/p>\n<p>Also available for purchase March 27-May 22 will be the at home Zoom option for the Virtual Seminars.\u00a0 See this information in the registration system beginning March 27.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All the conference shows are accepting entries<\/strong>:\u00a0 Fashion Show, Juried Show, Open Show, and Conference Colors Exhibit.\u00a0 Find info and entry forms on their webpages under the \u201cParticipate\u201d tab at the top of every webpage.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be shy; enter your fiber art creations in one of the conference shows.\u00a0 Cash awards will be given in addition to a beautiful woven award ribbon in each award category of the shows.<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, the following are just a few of the things you can look forward to at the conference:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tapestry Exhibit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You are invited to an exhibit of Margaret Kilbuck Johansen\u2019s tapestries that will be held in the Central Oregon Community College Barber Library from June 5 to July 31. A special conference reception will be held on Monday, June 12, and vans will be available to provide transportation for attendees from 5:30-7:30 PM.\u00a0 For more information go to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/\/tapestries-by-margaret-kilbuck-johansen\/\">https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/\/tapestries-by-margaret-kilbuck-johansen\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Noh Coat Challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bonnie Cashin\u2019s Noh coat was all the rage in the late 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century.\u00a0 Some of our members have joined the Noh Coat Challenge and will be showing their creations at the end of the fashion how.\u00a0Are you ready to take the Noh Coat Challenge? Please be sure to stop in to view the beautiful items made by members and to get more information to become a member of these groups.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Available Workshop Highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seats are still available in these two workshops:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/\/combining-common-cotton\/\">Combining Common Cotton<\/a> with Mary Berent and <a href=\"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/\/dye-your-own-yarn\/\">Dye Your Own Yarn<\/a> with Allison Harding.\u00a0 Mary has been a weaver for over 40 years.\u00a0 Cotton is always her go to material for weaving.\u00a0\u00a0Her first projects were cotton, and she still loves the utility and versatility of cotton.\u00a0\u00a0Mary\u2019s articles have been featured in <em>Weaver\u2019s Magazine, Handwoven Magazine, Spin off\u00a0<\/em>and Shuttle<i>, Spindle and Dyepot<\/i>.\u00a0\u00a0Join Mary in her 3-day workshop Monday-Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Allison is an award-winning fiber artist who knits, crochets, weaves, felts, dyes, cards, spins, sews, and more. If its fiber related, she\u2019s either tried it or it\u2019s on her bucket list. Allison is an NWRSA Certified Fiber Arts Judge who is passionate about education. \u00a0She strives to explain not only the how, but the why of everything she does in fun and innovative ways.\u00a0 Learn how to dye your own yarn with Allison in a 1-day workshop on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Available Seminar Highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two interesting seminars have seats available:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/\/dorset-buttons-a-heritage-craft\/\">Dorset Buttons<\/a> Virtual Hands-on Seminar with Denise Kovnat, and <a href=\"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/\/fiber-yarn-fabric\/\">Fiber, Yarn, Fabric<\/a> with Linda Kubik.\u00a0 Make a Dorset Button with Denise in this Friday afternoon seminar.\u00a0 Denise will be on the big screen instructing the class on creating buttons.\u00a0 A classroom assistant will help those in-person attendees make buttons.\u00a0 A Zoom at home seminar is also available for purchase beginning March 27.<\/p>\n<p>Linda\u2019s seminar explores the diversity and complexity of our natural fibers. This is an interactive, hands-on class.
