{"id":4980,"date":"2022-11-29T23:19:19","date_gmt":"2022-11-29T23:19:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anwgconference2023.com\/?p=4980"},"modified":"2022-11-29T23:19:19","modified_gmt":"2022-11-29T23:19:19","slug":"share-your-knowledge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/share-your-knowledge\/","title":{"rendered":"Share Your Knowledge!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Opportunities to Demonstrate Fiber Arts at the 2023 ANWG Conference<\/h2>\n<h4><em>By Donna Wilson and Cynthia Newman\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><\/h4>\n<p>We welcome you to share your passion and knowledge by demonstrating a variety of fiber arts at the 2023 ANWG Conference next June in Bend, OR.\u00a0 We are looking for individuals and small groups of like-minded friends to demonstrate a technique or skill for one or two hours. Demonstrating is a great way to enhance the conference experience for everyone and to provide outreach to the public. There will be indoor and outdoor space available for demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrations are scheduled for<strong> Friday, June 16<sup>th<\/sup> and Saturday, June 17<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong> from 10 AM to 5 PM.\u00a0 To make it easy, we will be looking for people to demonstrate for morning and afternoon sessions.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a place to indicate your interest in demonstrating during the online conference registration process, or you can let us know now that you are interested by emailing Cynthia Newman \u00a0<a href=\"mailto:cjn.weave@gmail.com\">cjn.weave@gmail.com<\/a> or Donna Wilson \u00a0<a href=\"mailto:donna2549@gmail.com\">donna2549@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fiber arts that we would like to showcase to attendees and the public are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0Weaving:\u00a0 Floor, table, rigid heddle, tapestry, frame, inkle, card weaving<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0Spinning:\u00a0 Great wheel, spinning wheel, drop spindle, electric spinner, prep for spinning, blending board<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0Felting:\u00a0 Wet, needle, nuno<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0Other:\u00a0 Do you have a unique fiber technique you want to share?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you for helping make this a fantastic Conference experience!\u00a0 See you in Bend next June.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Conference Registration<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4><em>By Janis Johnson, Conference Registrar<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>Registration for Fiber Connections, the 2023 ANWG Conference, will open in mid-January. \u00a0In the meantime, here\u2019s information to help you make plans.<\/p>\n<p>Conference registration will have two stages. During the first stage, you can register for\/purchase workshops and the Conference Package, which includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Three half-day seminars<\/li>\n<li>Admission to the Thursday Marketplace Reception and Shopping Extravaganza sponsored by Heddlecraft Magazine, Robyn Spady<\/li>\n<li>Banquet and Keynote address on Friday<\/li>\n<li>Saturday Fashion Show and Reception sponsored by Lunatic Fringe Yarns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also indicate your interest in volunteering, demonstrating, and attending various meetings and activities.<\/p>\n<p>The second stage begins in mid- April when you can purchase individual seminars and tickets for evening events that were previously only available with a Conference Package. \u00a0All available seats in workshops, seminars, and activities will be offered. \u00a0Online registration will be open during the conference itself for options that are still available at that time.<\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Registration-Worksheet-11-26-2022.pdf\">worksheet<\/a> can help you plan your Conference week. Please fill it out ahead of registration to speed up your online selection process.\u00a0 Keep in mind that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There\u2019s a wealth of information on the conference website \u2013 look there for answers to your questions\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/anwgconference.org\/archive\/2023\/\/conference-faq-frequently-asked-questions\/\">Conference FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) \u2013 2023 ANWG Conference (anwgconference2023.com)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Some workshops and seminars will fill up quickly, so have second and third choices ready.<\/li>\n<li>A couple activities conflict with afternoon seminars, see the worksheet.<\/li>\n<li>The price paid at registration does not include materials fees, which the instructor will collect at the workshop or seminar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Instructors have specified the final day to register for each workshop or seminar so they and their students will have time to prepare. After that date has passed a session will no longer be listed in the registration system.<\/p>\n<p>The online event registration system we\u2019re using is rsvpBOOK, which supports conflict blocking for workshops, seminars, and other activities; support for multi-day workshops; and waiting lists for workshops and seminars.\u00a0 It also allows returning to the registration system to make changes and add new sessions.\u00a0 You can also save the registration choices you\u2019ve made so far to avoid losing your choices after 15 minutes of inactivity in case you\u2019re interrupted while registering.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the meetings and free activities require registration via the conference website. Indicating your interest for these in the registration system allows us to get an idea of how many people are attending so we have room for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>December blog posts will include exact dates for registration, prices, and a FAQ for registration issues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stay updated<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Weaving Guilds of Oregon steering committee is very busy planning for the upcoming Association of Northwest Weavers\u2019 Guilds Conference at the Riverhouse Hotel and Convention Center in Bend, Oregon June 11-18, 2023.
