If you’re submitting photos for either the juried show or the fashion show each photo should be no more than 5 mb in size. If you need to reduce the file size of your photos you can do this fairly easily. Note: there are LOTS of tools and ways to do this. I’m simply describing a relatively easy way to do this using tools that should be available to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a Mac<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To resize a photo on a Mac, simply open the photo in the Preview application. (All Macs have Preview, and many times photos will open in Preview by default.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After opening the file, click File, then Duplicate to save a new copy. You can give it a new name like “Scarf – Smaller File” or “Scarf – Conference”, something that will help you remember what it is. Then go to File, then Save. You should see something like this:

Choose JPEG format, then to change the file size use the Quality slider. As you move it to the left the file size will get smaller. Once you find a slider position that will give you the size you need click Save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a PC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before you start it’s a good idea to create a copy of the file so you can keep your original, full size photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To resize a photo on a PC, open the photo in the Photos app that comes with Windows. Then, at the top of the screen click the three dots to see a menu of options and choose Resize.<\/p>\n\n\n
