Terry Olson, lifelong Oregon resident, weaves tapestry and teaches at the Damascus Fiber Arts School. She began studying tapestry with Audrey Moore in 1994 and has attended workshops with well-known tapestry artists including Archie Brennan, Susan Martin Maffei, Sarah Swett, Joan Baxter and Susan Iverson. Since 2003, Terry teaches tapestry about 30 weeks a year in Damascus, Oregon.
Terry Olson’s tapestries have been accepted into numerous juried shows, including the Small Tapestry International 4 and 6, sponsored by the American Tapestry Alliance. Her work has been seen in Handwoven magazine and on the cover of Tapestry Topics. Terry has exhibited tapestries in local juried shows and regional exhibits. She has received awards in four of the Northern Colorado Weavers Guild’s annual Fiber Celebration juried shows. Terry currently serves on the Board of the American Tapestry Alliance as Director of Education. She is a founding member of the Willamette Tapestry Artists.
Terry loves experimenting, learning and teaching tapestry techniques. She current work includes geometric shapes, landscapes featuring Mt. Hood, bridges over the Willamette River, and The Visiting Series–imaginary scenes with strange-looking women.
