Teresa has a passion for color and fabric. She expresses this in handwoven, hand dyed clothing that flows with color and drape.
She has been collecting unusual fabrics for years and is now upcycling them into accessories and garments along with her handwovens. She enjoys the challenge of finding different dye techniques to create new and unusual visual treats. Her goal is to create a garment that has drape, color, elegance and is a joy to wear.
Her current work is mainly hand dyed/hand painted yarns and hand woven. She uses tencel, bamboo and rayon threads, which are dyed before weaving the item, or are woven white and dye afterwards creating a riot of color and color blending. The colors are strong and full saturated with complex woven structures. The rayon is woven in plain weave and sometimes includes silk/wool blend that shrinks at a different rate and gives a sculptured look to the shawls
She also provides specialty dyed yarns for purchase by weavers or knitters. Her new work includes shibori overdyed leather to be used in accessories along with the pieced upcycled silk scarves.
