If you’re submitting photos for either the juried show or the fashion show each photo should be no more than 5 mb in size. If you need to reduce the file size of your photos you can do this fairly easily. Note: there are LOTS of tools and ways to do this. I’m simply describing a relatively easy way to do this using tools that should be available to everyone.
On a Mac
To resize a photo on a Mac, simply open the photo in the Preview application. (All Macs have Preview, and many times photos will open in Preview by default.)
After opening the file, click File, then Duplicate to save a new copy. You can give it a new name like “Scarf – Smaller File” or “Scarf – Conference”, something that will help you remember what it is. Then go to File, then Save. You should see something like this:
Choose JPEG format, then to change the file size use the Quality slider. As you move it to the left the file size will get smaller. Once you find a slider position that will give you the size you need click Save.
On a PC
Before you start it’s a good idea to create a copy of the file so you can keep your original, full size photo.
To resize a photo on a PC, open the photo in the Photos app that comes with Windows. Then, at the top of the screen click the three dots to see a menu of options and choose Resize.
Simply choose the option with the file size you need. In this case you could select any of the options. Save your file to save the new file size.
