Double Weave is really all about the architecture of a textile. The weave structure of those layers can be whatever your loom and your imagination allows. Learn to design fabric with 2 or more layers that form patterns, exchange positions, are stitched together, combine weave structures, or open up into 3 dimensional shapes. “Designing Layers” is for the multi-shaft weaver who wants to advance their understanding of double weave by using weaving software to design a variety layered fabrics. In addition, the technical issues surrounding weaving layers will be discussed.
Both a clear understanding of the various ways to weave layered cloth and exactly how to use WeavePoint to assist in the design process are what this workshop is all about.

Level: Intermediate to Advanced – student should be fairly proficient in basic drafting and have some experience using weaving software.
Student supplies to bring: Laptop computer that can run a Windows based program, i.e WeavePoint. It is possible to run WeavePoint on a MAC, but this should tested before the workshop. I can offer assistance in getting this working for any MAC users. NOTE: I will have fully functioning copies of WeavePoint 8 software to use during class if needed; extension cord, mouse and mouse pad.
